Next week sees the arrival of the World Conference on Marine Biodiversity in Aberdeen.  The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) is gearing up for this five day conference, which is expected to attract 900 international delegates.

The Conference has been organized by the University of Aberdeen jointly with St
Andrews University to promote discussion, exchange knowledge and increase awareness of global marine issues, and will run from Monday 26th to Friday 30th September.

It will comprise a synthesis of current international research on aspects of marine
biodiversity, habitat loss, climate change, and human and societal impacts.  The event will include activities open to the public, demonstrations and exhibitions.

The World Conference on Marine Biodiversity has the overall aim of bringing together scientists, practitioners and the public to discuss and advance our understanding of the issues surrounding the importance of biodiversity in the marine environment.

The conference will address issues of marine biodiversity across a deliberately wide range of relevant spheres and interacting topics.

Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director, commented “We are very much looking forward to housing the World Conference on Marine Biodiversity at AECC next week, it comes
in quick succession to the end of Offshore Europe, highlighting the Centre’s versatility and further emphasises AECC as a major venue for a variety of worldwide industries!”
