Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) are excited to announce that Scottish favourites, The Proclaimers, will be returning to the AECC Arena on Saturday 17th November 2012, as part of their six week UK Tour.
The Proclaimers, twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid, are famous for anthems such as “I’m Gonna Be (500 miles)”, “Letter from America” and “I’m On My Way”. Their 2012 date at AECC is the first in the City since 2009 and will be their third time performing in the AECC Arena.
Craig and Charlie said earlier today: “We are very excited to be playing Scottish shows again after a long absence and look forward to the tour immensely.”
Since coming off the road after their last 95 date World tour which began at SXSW in Texas in 2009 and ended with another triumphant main-stage appearance at T In The Park in 2010, the band then spent a year writing, subsequently recording their ninth studio album last autumn in Bath with producer Steve Evans at the helm. The album entitled ‘Like Comedy’ is released on 7th May by the leading and vibrant independent label Cooking Vinyl.
2012 sees The Proclaimers back out live with a busy summer in UK and Europe which includes headlining the Hebridean and Big Tent festivals in Scotland, followed by another headline slot at Cambridge Festival and main stage appearances at the V Festivals in England.
Brian Horsburgh, AECC’s Managing Director says: “The North-East audience loves The Proclaimers, as was apparent at their shows here in 2007 and 2009. It is brilliant they are returning to AECC and adds further diversity to our fantastic lineup for 2012, with Lionel Richie in September, Kevin Bridges and John Bishop in October!”
