The biennial SPE Offshore Europe (OE) is well underway at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) 8th-11th September. The conference and exhibition attracts a global audience of engineers, technical specialists, industry leaders and experts to share ideas and debate the issues of the moment in the upstream industry. It is a multi-faceted event that reflects the exploration and production community’s desire for continuous learning, showcasing the innovation, solutions and tools required to compete in an accelerating technology race in an increasingly complex business.
OE has been held at AECC since 1985 when the venue was constructed specifically for the event and it has seen massive growth since then. This year’s event, the exhibition space is made up of 15, 000 square meters of existing floor space at AECC as well as 40, 000 square meters of temporary structures built on the AECC site which will be home to 1, 540 exhibitors, 300 of which are new to Offshore Europe this year.
Over the course of the four day event, 65, 000 visitors are expected to attend with over 100 technical sessions covering the breadth of the E&P value chain. The event was kicked off with an opening plenary which included guest speaker Professor Brian Cox, arguably the UK’s best known physicist, who discussed ‘how to inspire the next generation’. Other features of the 2015 event include investment workshops, UKTI Country briefings and numerous breakfasts and lunches to give you a unique way to learn, network and engage with industry leaders whilst you dine.
