Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) is delighted with the success of the second Scottish Home Show which took place at the Centre over the weekend.
Gavin Esslemont and Darren Ross, Directors and Organisers of the Aberdeen-based home improvement exhibition, The Scottish Home Show, were also thrilled with the Show, having exceeded their visitor numbers on last year for the exhibition this past weekend at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre by over 37%.
The show, which is in its second year and ran from Friday lunchtime until Sunday evening, welcomed almost 11, 000 visitors through the doors during the show. Visitors enjoyed a jam-packed weekend with exhibitors such as big brand names AGA, B&Q, Bo Concept and John Lewis. From new homes, some of the most luxurious home and garden merchandise, to innovative new technology, gadgets, garden designs, conservatories, and the latest home interior designs, kitchens and bathrooms, the SHS showcased best products and design associated with the home improvements market.
Gavin commented: “We have been overwhelmed by the interest and support received for the Scottish Home Show this year – not just from our exhibitors and the general public, but also from the industry itself, having scooped ‘Best Exhibition’ in the prestigious Scottish Event Awards on Thursday evening.
“The show this year is more than double the size of last year, having housed 250 exhibition stands, taking over the entire GE Oil & Gas Arena for the first time, and expanding to a three-day event instead of a two-day event – which it was last year. We have also had a huge interest already for exhibition space next year, having confirmed our 2014 show dates as 26th-28th September.
“Many more people are willing to attempt home and garden improvement themselves and are keen to find out what the latest trends, products and innovations the market has to offer. The success of the show reflects this, and we are delighted to have been able to bring such a diverse and exquisite offering to the North-East.”
Beneficiaries of the Scottish Home Show – local cancer support services CLAN, which provides support to those living with cancer and their families, and UCAN that provides vital awareness and comfort to those affected by urological cancers, also benefited from the weekend, receiving donations and also money from show raffle tickets.
Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director of the AECC added: “We were delighted to welcome the Scottish Home Show back to the AECC for its second year. With the increased attendance over the weekend and the growth of the show from last year, it demonstrates the appetite for this type of consumer event in the area. We look forward to seeing how the show develops even further next year.”
