Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) are excited to announce that Scottish favourites, The Proclaimers, will be returning to the GE Oil & Gas Arena on Saturday 28th November 2015.
The Proclaimers, twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid, are famous for anthems such as “I’m Gonna Be (500 miles)”, “Letter from America” and “I’m On My Way”. Their 2012 date at AECC is the first in the City since 2009 and will be their fourth time performing at the Venue.
Strikingly individual, twin brothers Craig and Charlie Reid have over the years enjoyed huge successes across the globe and on 27th April this year will release their 10th studio album ‘Let’s Hear It For The Dogs’ (Cooking Vinyl).
They completed their last two-year-long World Tour late in 2013 in spectacular fashion as the first Scottish band to play at the new Hydro Arena in Glasgow. They then took 2014 off to focus on writing before heading to the studio in December. They hit the road again in May this year touring through to summer 2016.
With a number of English regional & Seaside shows and UK festival appearances already announced, The Proclaimers now confirm their main UK tour in October, November and December which includes seven shows in Scotland, including the GE Oil & Gas Arena!
The Proclaimers have carved a niche for themselves where pop, folk, new wave and punk collide as the emotional honesty, political fire, wit and sing-along raucousness of their songs and their extensive touring has enlightened and entertained fans new and old. In the process they have enjoyed Gold and Platinum singles and albums in UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Following on from the theatre success of the musical drama featuring songs by The Proclaimers, ‘Sunshine On Leith’ the movie version was a hugely popular release in 2013, spending a month in the Top Ten generating over £4.8 million at the UK box office, the fifth highest grossing independent release of the year.
Craig and Charlie said “We are looking forward immensely to the shows. It feels like we’ve been away for a long time so it will be great to back on stage in Scotland.”
Louise Lonie, AECC’s Head of Sales commented: “We look forward to welcoming The Proclaimers back to the GE Oil & Gas Arena later this year, as their past shows have shown they have a large following in the region who will be delighted by today’s news! With the advent of the newer, larger AECC – this may be the last time The Proclaimers will perform at the existing site and we hope they will join us at the new Venue after 2018!”
Tickets for the show are on general sale on Thursday 26th February and are available from Ticketmaster on 08444 77 9000 or online at www.ticketmaster.co.uk. The show is suitable for all ages, under 14s must be seated and accompanied by an adult (18+).
