Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) will be implementing changes to public car parking from 11thJune, 2012.
There will be a charge for parking at the Centre during the day between 0930hrs and 1800hrs of a flat fee of £3.00 per car. The fee for parking from 1800hrs – 2330hrs will remain at £5.00 per car. All day parking (0930–2330) will be £5.00. Parking between the hours of 0630hrs – 0930hrs will be free of charge.
Lighting in the main car park has been improved in the last month as well as some areas of the car park re-surfaced. In addition, a dual charging point for electric cars has been installed in Car Park 2, and electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles will be exempt from parking charges.
Brian Horsburgh, AECC’s Managing Director says: “We are looking at ways to improve the AECC facility and car parks are a key part of this. In addition, many conference organisers are looking for Venues to prove their sustainability and green credentials and encouraging the use of public transport, green vehicles and car sharing is part of AECC’s commitment.”
He adds; “AECC is the last Centre in the UK to implement car parking charges, and the charges are below average in Aberdeen City. The cost of a full day’s parking is the same as a Park and Ride bus ticket.”
