The Role:  Head of Conferences, Meetings and Banqueting

Reporting to:  Managing Director

 

KEY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop a sales strategy that delivers the agreed revenue targets in Conferences, Meetings and Banqueting
  • Proactively deliver new business opportunities by identifying prospects in the Conference Meeting and Banqueting markets
  • Monitoring and analysing sales targets across the Conference, Meeting and Banqueting markets and implementing remedial actions
  • Actively promoting the venue, conducting presentations, client entertaining, networking and site visits
  • Ensure, through implementing the agreed sales strategy, that revenue targets for current and future years are achieved
  • Monitor and report on current sales contracts and document pipeline business on a monthly basis
  • Proactively manage the sales team carrying out regular one to one meetings and performance reviews
  • Identify and evaluate business opportunities designed to achieve revenue targets
  • Actively engage with the Finance team to deliver monthly and annual revenue forecasts as required
  • Analyse sales statistics and event diary to determine business growth potential and revenue management strategy
  • Work proactively to retain and further develop relationships with a number of key accounts
  • Awareness of trends and propose ideas to build the range and quality of Conference, Meetings and Banqueting events
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge of the conference and event industry
  • Be fully aware of competitors’ products, pricing and services
  • Work collaboratively with Marketing on all market sector campaigns and promotions

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Detailed understanding of the Conference, Meetings and Banqueting sectors
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent

The Role:  Bars Manager

Reporting to: Head of Food & Beverage

 

KEY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

Main Responsibilities:

  • Control the running of all bars on site
  • Ensure bars are consistently offering excellent service, excellent products and maximising sales
  • Liaise with Event Co-ordinators and Catering Operations Manager to ensure an understanding of the client’s expectations, staff levels, and event times.
  • Ensure clients’ experience is memorable and that all aspects of bars delivery are in accordance with our and their expectations
  • Proactive consideration of business levels, with timely set up of bars to ensure successful delivery of overall event set up
  • Revenue and cost awareness
  • Responsible for briefing and motivating all casual workers in accordance with AECC policy/ conduct for staff in order to aid their understanding of the role expected of them
  • Responsible for delivery of basic training
  • Liaise with Head of Food & Beverage to ensure staffing levels are in accordance with daily requirements
  • Responsible for handling cash (Z of tills) and ensuring procedures of cash reconciliation are correct
  • Responsible for ensuring staff work within AECC HSE practices and the HASAW Act 1974 as well as ensuring that staff work to ISO 20121 Sustainability procedures that AECC have set
  • Ensure all beverage staff are correctly trained and working within the licence regulations
  • Responsible for the safe use and upkeep of all bars equipment and the reporting of defects and breakdowns
  • Take full responsibility to ensure that all bar stock levels are sufficient based as per business requirements and to complete monthly stock take

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Hospitality qualification
  • Personal Licence Holder and / or holds certificate in Licensing and Social Responsibility – Scotland or equivalent
  • HSE knowledge and understanding

Skills

  • Supervision of staff
  • Strong team player
  • Ability to communicate at all levels
  • Eye for detail
  • Team worker
  • Excellent planning / preparation skills

 

Experience

  • Supervisory experience within a bars manager role essential
