Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) is pleased to announce that the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Aberdeen conference organising committee have chosen the Venue to host their European Presidents Meeting in 2016.
The event will take place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of February 2016 and will welcome representatives from across Europe to Aberdeen. The three day meeting will take place alongside workshop sessions. The membership-based nonprofit organisation consists of 200, 000 people aged 18 to 40, from more than 100 countries around the world. JCI exists to seek targeted solutions to the unique problems in our communities to build a better world and create a global impact.
JCI’s Aberdeen chapter has a history which stretches back to 1946, when it formed as the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Their work involves members from the City’s business community, voluntary organisations and those in local public life.
The Conference was secured through close working with the JCI Aberdeen Chapter committee led by the 2015 president Kimberley John, who commented: “JCI Aberdeen is honoured to have been selected to host such an important meeting in the JCI calendar and we very much look forward to welcoming delegates to the Granite City.”
JCI Scotland 2015 National President Stanley Yau added: “I’m really proud of the work that Kimberley and her team have put into the bidding process for hosting the prestigious European Presidents’ Meeting in 2016. This conference is ideally placed to showcase the very best that Aberdeen, and Scotland, can offer to delegates from over 50 European countries.”
Brian Horsburgh, AECC’s Managing Director, commented: “JCI has been established in Aberdeen for almost seventy years and we look forward to welcoming the European Presidents Meeting to Aberdeen for the first time next year.
“We have an exciting programme of association events coming to AECC over the coming months including the Scottish Liberal Democrats Annual Conference, the Annual Meeting of the United Kingdom Continence Society, Routes Europe, the VisitScotland Expo, the Energy Cities Annual Conference and the Association of Paediatric Anaesthetists Conference. The high level of association business coming to the City in the next few months is fantastic; both for the Venue and for the Region. With a combined total of 4, 750 delegates expected to attend these events, with the economic benefit of these events totalling well over £5million.”
