First comedian announced to play at Aberdeen’s new event complex

Popular English comedian, Russell Howard is heading to Aberdeen next year as part of his biggest globe-spanning stand-up tour to date, Respite.  Russell will entertain fans at brand new state-of-the-art venue, The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA).

TECA is being delivered by Aberdeen City Council in partnership with Henry Boot Developments and will provide a new world-class facility for Scotland close to Aberdeen International Airport. The 12,500-capacity main arena will host a variety of events and is already attracting major stars to the area.

Russell has always been a firm favourite with the Aberdeen audience, we expect him to receive a hugely warm welcome when he performs to the TECA crowd during opening season.  Russell will deliver his show on Friday 20 September 2019, in the brand new arena.

Nick Waight, Managing Director at AECC and TECA said “It’s great to get the ball rolling with our first comedian announced to play TECA next year, and especially one we know is always a favourite with the north east audience. With less than a year to go until the opening of TECA, we’ve got some exciting bookings in the diary and we look forward to sharing details of these soon!”

Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Douglas Lumsden commented: “It’s fantastic that Russell Howard is announced today as the first comedy act for TECA as he was a sell-out when he was at the current venue last year.

“He is the quality of act which will help to attract people from the north-east and beyond to TECA which is one of our aims for the new venue.”

This is the first of many upcoming announcements for TECA, with more to follow in the coming weeks and months.

Tickets to Russell’s show will be available from Ticketmaster from 10am on Thursday 8 November.
