February at AECC

Aberdeen Learning Festival Tuesday 14th February

Deputy First Minister and Cabinet Secretary for Education and Skills, John Swinney MSP will open the 2017 Aberdeen Learning Festival on Tuesday 14th February with the main theme of this year’s event being ‘Partnership Working-To Close the Gap’. Over 50 seminars will take place throughout the day, which will cover a wide range of topics from classroom leadership to developing the future workforce and closing the attainment gap.

An extensive exhibition of over 50 suppliers, partners, colleagues and establishments from across the Northern Alliance Local Authorities will attend, highlighting educational equipment, resources and innovative practises throughout the day. This will provide valuable opportunities for delegates to find out about the products and services available to support their work, to share practices and to explore new ways of working in partnership.

Busted Friday 24th February

There’s no doubt that most teenagers rocked out to Busted’s ‘What I Go to School For’ and ‘Year 3000’ back in 2002 now, 15 years later, fans in the North-east will have the chance to relive their pop-rock dreams with the band when they visit AECC’s GE Oil & Gas Arena on Friday 24th February.

Following a split in 2005, the trio went on to have successful ventures and after much speculation by the media, the band reformed in 2015. Following a 2016 UK and Ireland tour, the band went on to record their third studio album, ‘Night Driver’, and have now embarked on a 33 date tour across the UK, Europe and Asia.
