Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) are proud to announce that we have been presented with the AGCC Northern Star Green Award in recognition of the practices put in place to reduce the Venue’s impact on the environment.
Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce’s Northern Star Business Awards run in October every year. The Green Award is a new category introduced for 2011, awarded to the company that has implemented a strategy to reduce the impact its business makes on the environment or is involved in providing alternative energy supplies.
The team at AECC endeavour to continue an overall strategy and policy of improving on current levels of recycling, energy saving and work closely with clients to recycle waste from major events including Offshore Europe and All-Energy.
AECC have also recently started to recycle waste food and have introduced bio-degradable catering disposable items. Local sourcing is maximised at all times for supplies including most of our food produce.
The focus of the Centre’s Senior Management and Sustainability Teams on green
policies over recent years has ensured that this is part of our day-to-day
business and is considered in all that we do.
Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director at AECC, says, “The whole AECC team buy-in to our recycling programme, showing enthusiasm and support both at a personal and
company wide level. We are honoured to receive the Green Award and are delighted to be recognised for our continuing green policies.”
