Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) are delighted to be working with local Aberdeen charity Somebody Cares as our nominated Charity of the Year for 2014/15.

At AECC, we want to help and try to lessen the very heavy workload which is carried out by all of the volunteers at Somebody Cares over the Christmas period – as part of this we have arranged a ‘Somebody Cares Christmas Gift Bank’.

From 31st October, all full-time, part-time and casual members of AECC staff have been encouraged to donate presents for the people visited by the Charity in the lead up to Christmas. All gifts will be collated and given to Somebody Cares on the week beginning 8th December – who will then deliver them to families in the region who are facing a Christmas without food or gifts.

Somebody Cares is one of the leading charity organisation in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire providing free food, furniture, clothing and much more to the poor, the vulnerable and the disadvantaged people of the area.

Established in 2002, Somebody Cares has grown massively and now assists thousands of families, children, pensioners and individuals all over Aberdeen. Somebody Cares has always said that no-one in this area need go without and is immensely proud of the way it has been able to grow to meet a hugely increasing demand on a very limited budget.

Over the Christmas period, 90 volunteers visit 3, 000 homes in Aberdeen to supply families with food bags (worth around £40 each).  They will also deliver presents to families which they provide regular assistance to.
