The past couple of months have seen a lot of activity at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) with staff taking on challenges to raise funds for our chosen charity of the year, Friends of Anchor.
What originally started out as a one day event, ANCHOR Wipeout has since grown to become a weekend-long tournament allowing 72 teams to take part in the challenge. Each of the 12 games were team based whereby one or two people needed to manoeuvre obstacles and inflatables in a bid to complete the game. 18 members of ‘Team AECC Bridge of Domination!’ took on giant inflatable courses and managed to raise a fantastic £538 for Friends of Anchor.
AECC’s Sales Administrator, Alison Cheshire took on the Great Scottish Swim on 29th August where she swam a whopping two miles in open water at Loch Lomond in one hour, 12 minutes and 51 seconds. Alison had been training since February and started off swimming three times a week in her local pool to building up her strength with a few swims in a nearby loch before the event. Alison managed to raise a fantastic £320 which will all be donated to Friends of Anchor.
Sunday 27th September will bring on another challenge for AECC’s Digital Media Executive, Lukas Richter, who will be taking part in the Loch Ness Marathon. Lukas has dedicated many hours of training to increase his fitness and endurance and has set himself a personal challenge to complete it within the four hours mark. A donation page has been set up ahead of Lukas taking on the marathon and donations can be made via www.justgiving.com/lukasrichter89.
