AECC LOOKS FORWARD TO WELCOMING THREE PRESTIGIOUS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCES IN THE NEXT MONTH

The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) is looking forward to welcoming three major international conferences in the next month.

All three conferences are outstanding wins for AECC and the City of Aberdeen.  They are:  The European Optical Society Annual Symposium 2012; The World Heavy Oil Congress 2012, and The Society of Core Analysts Symposium 2012, and between them will bring around 1750 attendees into the Granite City.

The Society of Core Analysts 2012 Symposium will be held from 27th to 30th August.  This four-day event includes a conference as well as an exhibition, and takes place annually in different locations around the world.  2012 is its 26th year, and 250 delegates are geared up to attend!

The World Heavy Oil Congress, having already taken place in China, Canada and Venezuela, comes to Aberdeen from 10th to 13th September.  As the oil capital of Europe, the Region’s diverse energy landscape (in particular the North Sea reserves) lends unique context for the technical expertise and business insight contributions to the global heavy oil community.  One thousand delegates are expected to come to the City to be part of this significant Congress.

Finally, The European Optical Society’s (EOS) Annual Meeting will be held over four days from 25th to 28th September.  Launched in 2006, and since then hosted every even year by the OPTO exhibit in Paris, the EOS Annual Meeting (EOSAM) has established itself as a major European event with at least 500 attendees expected.  In 2012, EOSAM moves to Aberdeen to reach out into the wider European community and broaden the appeal to those not directly connected with EOS.

As the National Energy Exhibition Centre, AECC is ideally positioned as a world-class conference, exhibition and event Venue located within the energy city of Aberdeen and offers visitors a unique experience.

Major international events such as these show the importance of Aberdeen as a hub for Energy, Oil and Gas and Life Sciences.  Brian Horsburgh, Managing Director of AECC, commented: “It is great that these three societies chose AECC as the venue for such major events, reinforcing the emphasis that AECC and Aberdeen are a highly attractive choice in the international Conference market.”
