On Saturday evening, the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre’s (AECC’s) GE Oil & Gas Arena was transformed into a glittering ballroom when the Centre once again played host to the annual Press and Journal Energy Ball 2013, held on Saturday 5th October.


This prestigious ball is an annual event at the Centre, this year hosting almost 1, 500 guests which is the largest event to date.  AECC is the only venue in the North-East of Scotland capable of catering for the ever-growing numbers of guests attending this event.


The sold-out event this year welcomed 1, 485 guests, who enjoyed the comedic talent of BAFTA award winner Rory Bremner and the sounds of the iconic Kid Creole and the Coconuts.


This year’s Energy Ball was a gastronomic delight as AECC’s Executive Head Chef Brian McDonald and his team of 12 chefs catered for 1, 485 guests, which is almost 100 more guests than at last year’s Energy Ball!  The fantastically delicious menu consisted of vast quantities of the finest local ingredients including: 1, 485 Centre Cut Fillet Steaks, 75kg Oak Smoked Salmon, 50kg Monkfish, 180kg of Vegetables, 260kg of Potatoes, 80kg of Chocolate Couverture, 75 litres of Marmalade Ice-cream, 80kg of White Chocolate, 25kg each of Lanark Blue Cheese, Mature Cheddar Truckle and Scottish Brie, and 1, 485 Tuile Baskets!
