This month Team AECC have been busy promoting the venue and the region, throughout the UK and further afield. Although experiencing the City first-hand is by far the best way to sample the city’s beautiful beaches, the sparkle of the grey granite and the spirit of the destination, the Team bring their enthusiasm for the destination to other cities to promote Aberdeen’s offering.
Throughout June the Team visited Glasgow to host the Aberdeen Invasion; this annual event highlights the benefits of working with AECC to bring events to the North-east, keeping key clients and contacts up-to-speed with all the happenings of the venue and the region.
June also saw the Team visiting London to exhibit at The Meetings Show which allowed face-to-face time with key contacts old and new. In addition last week the Team attended The Conference Awards as finalists in the ‘Best Conference Venue Customer Service’ category.
Spreading the message throughout Europe; Sales Manager, Charlotte Garvie, visited Madrid for the Meetings & Incentive (M&I) Forum, one of the meeting industry’s leading events, spreading the news about the fantastic developments taking place in Aberdeen – including the new AECC development. This puts the venue in front of top contacts in the meetings, incentives, conference and exhibitions (MICE) markets, looking to bring their business to new destinations.
Sales Manager Jill Malcolmson and Sales Researcher Hannah Mitchell visited Stavanger, Norway for the International Congress and Convention Association’s (ICCA’s) Association Meetings Programme. This collaborative educational event enables AECC to share knowledge with associations, convention bureaus, venues and professional conference organisers, with collaborative working; sharing challenges, successes, ideas and ultimately improving the offering for international meetings.
Interim Managing Director, Graeme Cumming, visited Nantes, France to attend the AIPC 2016 Conference. This year’s programme focused on creativity, innovating and adapting in order to future-proof the industry and remain competitive; which is at the heart of our business and this education event is key for developing future business. AECC had been confirmed as the only UK venue to be nominated in the globally recognised AIPC Apex Awards for “Best Client Rated Convention Centre” from a list of 15 global conference centres.
Promoting the destination is fundamental to AECC’s approach, with Aberdeen standing as a must-visit destination boasting many unique treasures and with exciting new projects currently underway. A state-of-the-art new venue is currently in progress, which will replace the current AECC when it opens in 2019. The new venue which features 48, 500 sqm of conference and exhibition space, together with plenary capacity for 3, 000 delegates will boost Aberdeen’s standing as a thriving centre for international business.
