Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) is pleased to announce the appointment of DB Event Networks as the new Wi-Fi and event internet service provider for the Centre.
DB Event Networks, a division of the award-winning audiovisual rental company DB Systems, will install a scalable hardwired and Wi-Fi network which will cover the entire Venue, and will be extendable into the temporary structures which are used at the larger shows – such as Offshore Europe (1, 800 exhibitors and 48, 000 attendees) and All-Energy (580 exhibitors and 8, 300 attendees), held at the AECC. The system went live this week.
As a specialist contractor with extensive international event experience and ISO9001 systems in place, DB event networks will enable the AECC to offer a flexible and scalable package of internet solutions, as well as the customer service levels required by increasing demand from clients seeking higher levels of connectivity, as mobile device use grows rapidly.
As part of this new service, all those coming into the AECC will be able to access free Wi-Fi in the Centre’s Café Concourse, while enjoying a Costa coffee and a delicious light lunch or cake.
Brian Horsburgh, AECC’s Managing Director, said: “Increasing demands for internet connection, particularly Wi-Fi, at events is so critical a part of our business that we made the decision that an event specialist should be appointed to manage our Wi-Fi network. Event organisers demand a robust, flexible Wi-Fi system for their events at our Centre.”
He added: “We are confident that DB event networks will ensure AECC provides clients with the services they now expect for their delegates. Dramatic growth in the use of Wi-Fi mobile devices means we need to ensure our systems have the capability and flexibility to support this.”
Jay Goldson, Head of Division for DB Event Networks, explained: “We specialise in designing, installing and managing the internet infrastructure for both indoor and outdoor events held anywhere in the world. This contract is hugely significant for DB as a permanent presence at the Venue will be required. The AECC has clearly stated how important Wi-Fi and fixed line connectivity is to its exhibition business and customers’ businesses, so we are very much looking forward to getting started.”
