In October 2013, Aberdeen City Council announced that a new Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) would be built to ensure the city continues to attract large and popular events and secures a bigger share of the conference, exhibition and concert market. AECC is an essential part of the city’s infrastructure and brings £50m into the local economy each year.
The development is taking shape at the new site, where the impressive stance and enormity of the new venue is being brought to life. The venue is state-of-the-art encompassing 48,000 sqm of internal exhibition space comprising of 33,000 sqm of subterranean space, a 9,000 sqm arena, 6,000 sqm hall which is divisible into three 2,000 sqm spaces, with an extra 10,000 sqm outdoor space. All making way for larger conference halls and suits, a superior arena, hospitality boxes and club lounge.
