Aberdeen has gained something of a reputation as ‘Scotland’s Sporting City’. In terms of active pursuits, the city boasts sporting facilities that are second to none, including cycling, curling, surfing, golf courses, driving ranges, leisure and sports centres, squash and tennis courts, swimming pools and horse riding. Its sporting facilities for the disabled are also highly commended. Also, in wintertime three of Scotland’s main ski centres are a comfortable car journey from the city.

Aberdeen and the North East boasts over 70 golf courses some of which are the oldest around and some voted into the top 50 in the world.

Aberdeen and the North East offers a wide range of water sports including canoeing, diving, sailing, windsurfing and rowing.

Two of Scotland’s five ski areas can be found in the Aberdeen and Grampian Highlands. The area also enjoys some superb scenery and has a variety of exciting walks.
