Paul Weller
One of the UK’s most influential musicians is coming to Aberdeen at the end of the year. Paul Weller will play at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre’s (AECC’s) Press and Journal Arena on Thursday 13, November 2008.
“I’m pleased that yet another fantastic artist is coming to the venue”, says Clarke Milloy, Managing Director, AECC. “We hope that the announcement of someone like Paul Weller will be good news for both a slightly more mature audience and the younger generation in the area”.
Hailed as one of the best singer-songwriters of his generation, Paul Weller is known for his leading role in ‘new wave’ band, The Jam, who are famed for hits such as ‘Going Underground’ and ‘A town Called Malice’. The band are widely regarded as one of the most influential of their time and are regularly cited by more recent groups such as Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene.
Following the breakup of The Jam in 1982, Weller would go on to achieve further success with ‘The Style Council’, before launching a solo-career and joining the Brit-Pop movement. His 1995 album, Stanley Road, which included hit singles such as ‘The Changingman’ and ‘You do Something to me’, saw him top the UK charts once again and became the biggest selling album of his career.
Weller’s latest tour will mark the release of his 9th solo album, ‘22 Dreams’, which includes collaborations with Oasis’ Noel Gallagher and Graham Coxon of Blur.
Tickets for Paul Weller go on sale on Friday, 2 May. Tickets cost £30 + booking fee and are available from Ticketmaster on 08444 77 9000 or online at www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
