One of the UK’s most influential musicians is coming to Aberdeen at the end of the year. Paul Weller will play at the AECC’s Press and Journal Arena on Thursday 13, November 2008.
Hailed as one of the best singer-songwriters of his generation, Paul Weller is known for his leading role in ‘new wave’ band, The Jam, who are famed for hits such as ‘Going Underground’ and ‘A town Called Malice’. The band are widely regarded as one of the most influential of their time and are regularly cited by more recent groups such as Oasis and Ocean Colour Scene.
Following the breakup of The Jam in 1982, Weller would go on to achieve further success with ‘The Style Council’, before launching a solo-career and joining the Brit-Pop movement. His 1995 album, Stanley Road, which included hit singles such as ‘The Changingman’ and ‘You do Something to me’, saw him top the UK charts once again and became the biggest selling album of his career.
Weller’s latest tour will mark the release of his 9th solo album, ‘22 Dreams’, which includes collaborations with Oasis’ Noel Gallagher and Graham Coxon of Blur.

AccessManager
AECC has recently launched AccessManager in partnership with Ticketmaster. This is a new system whereby all ticket holders will have their tickets scanned before entering the venue, rather than have their ticket stumps torn off. The new scanners have many benefits including a much quicker entry to the venue for ticket holders as well as helping to deter counterfeiters. The system will require ticket holders to work with the AECC in utilizing both East and West entrances to ensure a quicker and safer entrance to the Arena.
