National Trust for Scotland
The National Trust for Scotland is a conservation charity that preserves and promotes the natural and cultural heritage of Scotland. The trust is the largest conservation charity in Scotland and among other duties it protects the castles and historical buildings of the country for future generations.
There are over a 100 places in Scotland under the Trust and range from famous castles to epic battle fields and mesmerising gardens to some of the country’s mystical islands. Included in their many places to visit are a number of the castles found in the North East aswell as the beautiful Pitmedden Garden and Mar Lodge Estate.
Many of the attractions also feature restaurants, cafés, tearooms and gift shops and provide visitors with a taste of Scottish cuisine aswell as allowing them to take home a memorable gift or souvenir. A variety of events are also held by the National Trust and take place at the various sites throughout the year. These include guided walks, craft fairs, concerts and battle re-enactments that offer something for all the family.
