The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) are gearing up to welcome hundreds of scientists and oil and gas experts from across UK and Europe to the 9^th annual DEVEX European Production and Development Conference.

Held this week (9^th and 10^th of May 2012), DEVEX Conference and Exhibition is run jointly by the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain (PESGB), the Society for Petroleum Engineers (SPE), and the Aberdeen Formation Evaluation Society (AFES).

DEVEX 2012 is designed for geologists, geo-physicists, petro-physicists, reservoir engineers, petroleum engineers, production technologists, well engineers and drilling engineers.  As a key knowledge-sharing event for the oil and gas industry, leaders will pass on their experience and knowledge of innovation and entrepreneurialism in the sector throughout the event.

Jason White, DEVEX 2012 Chairman says: “Now in its ninth year, the conference is well established and is going from strength to strength. In 2011 Eddie Izzard, the man who turned talking ‘Bollocks’ into an art form, performed and sold–out Madison Square Garden in New York.  He spent a three-month residency at the Théâtre de Dix Heures in Paris performing STRIPPED: ‘Tout en Francais’ (in French!) and then become the first stand-up comedian to play a solo show at Los Angeles’ legendary Hollywood Bowl.  It was an extraordinary year from an extraordinary man.

Never one to rest on his laurels he now plans to take on the world with a brand-new comedy tour, Force Majeure, French translation meaning “superior force”, “chance occurrence, unavoidable accident”.

Force Majeure will be the most extensive comedy tour ever and begins its mammoth journey around the globe during spring 2013.  From Cardiff to Kathmandu, Moscow to Mumbai, Eddie will visit 25 countries throughout Europe,USA, Africa, Russia, Australia, New Zealand, India, Nepal and The Far East.

The winner plus seven finalists from the most talked about TV programme of the year will hit the road and will be touring the UK in “The Voice UK Live” tour from September 2012.

Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) in cooperation with Aberdeen City’s bus operator First Aberdeen are delighted to announce the introduction of our “Grab a lift and a latte” campaign.

First Aberdeen’s Park and Ride buses now stop outside AECC on the Ellon Road for pick-up, allowing passengers the chance to grab a coffee for their journey into the City Centre and “get the buzz to work!”

Costa Coffee will now be served from AECC’s new look Café Concourse. The “Grab a lift and a latte” campaign is aimed at encouraging people to use First Aberdeen’s Park & Ride service as  well as providing a great place for local business people and members of the public to meet and  enjoy a great cup of coffee in a welcoming atmosphere.

This campaign sees two of Aberdeen’s high-profile businesses working together to provide a unique and enhanced service to commuters travelling by the Park & Ride service.

David Stewart, Managing Director of First Aberdeen, said: “Our Park and Ride services offer high quality, convenient and quick journeys into the city centre avoiding much of the congestion at peak times.  As well as the free wifi we offer on Park and Ride services, I’m pleased that as a result of our partnership with the AECC customers can now take on board a coffee as they prepare for a day’s work.”

Following a hugely successful sold out Arena tour this year, Olly Murs has announced a series of UK Arena dates for March 2013. Over 150,000 people saw him on tour this year and this included two nights at London’s O2 Arena.

Olly, whose current album ‘In Case You Didn’t Know’ has been certified platinum, is about to embark on a series of American dates with One Direction. His music will get its first release in the US later this year.

Olly is currently working on his third album, which is due for release later this year. He will star in the ITV2 documentary series ‘Life On Murs’ beginning this Thursday, which follows him on his sold our 2012 tour.
