Bring in the  New Year at AECC!

Aberdeen  Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) are excited to announce ‘Granite Rocks‘:  a fantastic line-up of live music for Hogmanay 2011 which will be held at  AECC’s Press & Journal Arena on Saturday 31st December 2011!

What better way to bring in the New Year, than with thousands of other music fans in Aberdeen’s favourite music venue?  Doors open at 6.30pm with live acts playing until after midnight!

Playing at Granite Rocks is indie rock band  White Lies whose hits include “Bigger Than Us”, “Farewell to the Fairground”  and many more, from their number one debut album “To Lose My Life…” and their latest  release “Ritual”, which reached number 3 in the album charts.

Scottish five piece The View will also be playing at Granite Rocks.  Hailing from Dundee, The View is one of the most exciting live acts to have emerged from Scotland in recent years.  With three Top 20 albums under their belts, The View promise a great set list which is sure to include hits such as “Same Jeans” and the more recent “Grace”.

Twin Atlantic, from Glasgow, whose second album, entitled “Free”, charted at number five in the UK Rock Album Chart earlier this year, join White Lies and The View playing this Hogmanay.

They will be joined by some of Aberdeen’s homegrown talent, The Little Kicks and The Tijuana Sun.

Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre (AECC) are gearing up towards a fantastic night to bring in 2012, with brilliant bands and a great gig atmosphere. The North-East will be bringing in the New Year with a bag at ‘Granite Rocks’ this New Year’s Eve.

As a first of its kind event, Granite Rocks is aiming to provide a real alternative for people in the North East and beyond.  The doors open at 6.30pm with music from local band The Tijuana Sun kicking the night off at 7pm, followed by The Little Kicks another band hailing from the Granite City.

Northsound 1’s Greiggsy will be there all night keeping revelers entertained with a great mix of songs to keep everyone in the party spirit in between acts!

White Lies will play hits such as ‘Ritual’, then it’s ‘Time For You To Stand Up’ as Twin Atlantic take to the stage to entertain the crowd, before The View play the North-East into 2012 with the added special appearance of a traditional Scottish piper at the bells!

The event will end at 1.30am and First Bus will be running their Night Service (nearest bus-stop on North Donside Road (00.16, 00.33, 01.03, 02.03, 03.03) and at the Gordon Barracks, the Number 1 Night Service will take revelers safely back to the City Centre, before going on to Garthdee (as part of the usual route).

Granite Rocks runs this Hogmanay from 6.30pm until 1.30am and is to be held indoors at the AECC’s Press and Journal Arena on Saturday 31st December 2011.  There will be unreserved seating in place for anyone who has weary feet from all the rocking!

Also available on the night will be hot food options from a range of catering units operating on a cash payment basis.

This event is the first of its kind for Hogmanay in Aberdeen and provides a great opportunity for people to get together to celebrate New Year in a warm and safe environment with great music!
