Britain's Got Talent

Hit Saturday night TV show, ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, is coming to Aberdeen. The winner and finalists of this year’s competition are to perform at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre’s (AECC’s) Press and Journal Arena on Saturday 21, June 2008.

“This is definitely something a little bit different for us and for the Aberdeen public,” says Clarke Milloy, Managing Director, AECC. “Judging by the popularity of the show we expect that fans in the North East will be excited by the news that the show is coming to the city”.

‘Britain’s Got Talent’, which is presented by Saturday night TV favourites, Ant and Dec, first aired in June 2007 following the success of Simon Cowell’s ‘America’s Got Talent’. It is a search for Britain's next best amateur talent act, featuring singers, dancers, comedians, magicians and other talents of all ages.

Last year’s winner, former Carphone Warehouse Manger, Paul Potts, picked up a prize of £100,000 and an appearance at the Royal Variety Performance for his rendition of ‘Nessun Dorma’. His album, 'One Chance', shot straight to the top of the charts in the UK followed by a further 15 countries Worldwide.

The latest series of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ began on Saturday on ITV 1, and it looks set to be another huge success with the first episode of the show attracting a whopping 10.8 million viewers. The winner and finalists from this year’s show will embark on a nationwide tour, starting at London's Hammersmith Apollo.
